The challenge

The goal was to create a collection of high-end imagery that showcased the Surface Pro 8 in the style of a major product launch. The project called for a variety of angles, compositions, and lighting styles that could highlight both the overall design and smaller details of the device.

Our approach

We began by studying existing Surface Pro imagery and product launch campaigns to establish a visual direction. A 3D model of the device was acquired from TurboSquid, then optimized and refined for close-up, high-resolution rendering. We explored a range of camera angles and compositions, including individual views, detail shots, and group arrangements featuring different keyboard colors.

Two distinct lighting styles were developed to give the collection added variety. Bright, clean backgrounds created a traditional product-photography feel, while darker compositions introduced more dramatic lighting and backlit effects. Depth of field, lens effects, and color correction were added in post-production to complete the images.

Working in 3D allowed us to explore a wide range of visual directions while keeping the Surface Pro 8 consistent across the entire collection. The same digital asset could be repositioned, re-lit, and recomposed to create everything from clean product imagery to more dramatic campaign-style shots.

The resulting collection demonstrates how 3D product rendering can go beyond simply recreating a photograph. By controlling the camera, lighting, materials, and environment independently, we were able to create imagery specifically tailored to the visual language of a product launch.
