The challenge
Industrial products often come with a learning curve, and PENCOM’s SE-22 2B fastener insertion machine was no exception. Before we could effectively visualize the machine, we first needed to understand its construction and key features while working from limited reference material.
The supplied CAD provided a starting point, but many of the smaller details were incomplete or missing entirely. Hardware such as nuts and bolts needed to be added, while flexible components including tubing and wiring had to be recreated from scratch.
Our approach
We began by refining the supplied CAD into a more complete, presentation-ready 3D asset. Missing mechanical details were modeled and flexible components such as tubing and wiring were recreated using the available references, with close attention given to how the various parts connected and interacted throughout the machine.
Once the model was complete, the focus shifted from technical reconstruction to presentation. Dramatic lighting, controlled reflections, and deliberate camera movement were used to gradually reveal the SE-22 2B, transforming a complex piece of industrial equipment into a polished cinematic product animation.

The reveal format provided a different way to present a highly technical product. Rather than trying to communicate every feature at once, the animation builds anticipation through a sequence of controlled close-ups before revealing the machine as a whole. The cinematic treatment helped give the SE-22 2B a strong visual presence while allowing its mechanical complexity and details to become part of the story.
The project also became the beginning of a broader collaboration with PENCOM. Following the initial reveal, we developed a more technical feature-focused animation and later produced still renderings for additional products, extending the original 3D visualization work into other marketing applications.
