The Ridge Wallet

When The Ridge Wallet came to us in 2020, they already had solid product photography but wanted to take their imagery to another level. The goal was to create a more refined and consistent visual presentation that could showcase the materials, construction, and intricate details of their minimalist wallets across their website and marketing.

The wallets may be simple in appearance, but their construction includes a surprising amount of fine detail. Small elements like screws, grooves, textures, and material finishes needed to read accurately while maintaining the clean, premium aesthetic of the brand.

We worked from engineering CAD files and physical product samples, using the samples to evaluate the actual materials, finishes, and construction details before developing the 3D assets. We optimized the CAD models and created additional elements, including cash and credit cards, to build out the compositions. Before moving into final rendering, we staged each shot and provided clay previews so the camera angles and compositions could be reviewed and approved.

Once the setup was established, we focused the lighting and materials on revealing the subtle details that make the wallets distinctive, from the grooves and hardware to the texture and finish of each material. After finalizing the initial setup, we were able to reuse the scene across the different wallet designs, clip and strap configurations, and a variety of color, material, and texture options while maintaining a consistent visual style.
